Which Gelco Models This Applies To

The throat dampers use a rectangular cast-iron plate riding in a steel frame; the top-sealing units use a silicone-sealed cap on a cable drive. Mixing parts between series doesn’t work. A TSE-II cable won’t tension correctly on a first-generation TSE frame, and the throat damper plates are not interchangeable across frame widths.

• Smoke rolls into the room on startup. The plate isn’t seating fully against the frame, either from warping (common after over-firing) or from creosote buildup along the seat edge. In Denver’s dry climate, thermal expansion between the plate and frame can gall the mating surface over seasons.
