• Multi-flue cap lid separation on the 5000 Series. The cross-bolted lid design can work loose after repeated thermal cycling, especially on taller chimneys in Park Hill and Stapleton that see more wind shear. The gap lets water sheet down between flues. We reseat with grade-5 hardware and a fresh bead of high-temp silicone, or replace with a welded-lid unit if the bracket ears are fatigued.
• Crown wash cracking behind Copperfield caps with shallow overhang. Some Copperfield cap designs, particularly older 1000 Series installs, don’t project far enough beyond the crown edge. Water runs back to the wash, freezes, and opens hairline cracks that widen every season.
